Somatic Psychotherapy

What is Somatic Psychotherapy?

Somatic Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that connects the mind and body. It uses physical movement, intentional awareness, and exercise to help clients process stored emotions or trauma, improving both mental and physical health.

What makes Neurosomatic Psychotherapy Different?

At High Octane, we’ve adapted Somatic Psychotherapy into a program called Neurosomatic Psychotherapy. This approach combines:

  • Cognitive therapy – talk therapy similar to what you would expect.
  • Somatic therapy – strength based movements because strong in the gym creates strength outside of the gym.

Our psychotherapists work with you to understand your goals and create a plan that integrates mental health care with safe, movement-based techniques. This innovative method aims to help heal emotionally while building physical strength and confidence in the gym setting.

Why Choose Neurosomatic Psychotherapy?

This program can help you commit to your mental health while overcoming barriers like fear of injury or gym intimidation. It’s a comprehensive, whole-body approach to wellness.

We believe that building strength and confidence in the gym doesn’t stay within these walls. The strength and confidence you develop here carry over into the outside world. Both your therapist and High Octane believe this is one of the best paths to becoming mentally healthy and mentally strong. That said, this program isn’t for everyone. It takes physical effort, consistency, and persistence to see the benefits. Our role in this relationship is to provide a safe space and expert staff who can help you move to the best of your ability.

Imagine This:

You walk into a traditional therapy session to talk about your stress, fears, or past trauma. It’s on a couch which you know works for others but it hasn’t been working for you – your nervous system craves movement, your body is speaking louder than your voice, and you want to shake it out. Now imagine walking into High Octane’s gym, where you’re not asked to talk but to move. After an in-depth conversation, you meet challenges with weights, developing strength, finding quiet meditation in movement, stretches, and exercise as part of the healing process.

This is the idea behind Somatic Psychotherapy—a method that connects the mind and body to help process emotions, release stored trauma, and improve mental health. By using movement and physical awareness, clients gain tools to heal beyond the therapy chair.

At High Octane, we’ve developed Neurosomatic Psychotherapy to take this concept further – developing something we believe everyone should be doing (and might already be doing without even knowing it). Our psychotherapists tailor their sessions to include movement-based techniques within a supportive gym environment. After an initial intake to understand your needs, therapists design programs that combine mental health work with exercises in a safe supportive environment.

The result? You begin to build strength, confidence, and mental clarity—all in one program that treats the whole person. Neurosomatic Psychotherapy isn’t just about mental health or physical health—it’s about both, working together.
